A seven-month-old boy has been burnt to death while his parents sustained injuries in a fire that broke out at a building in Dhaka’s Mirpur.
The victim was identified as Tamim and his parents as Manik, 35 and Mina, 28.
The fire originated from a cigarette butt on the ground floor of a four-storey building around 11:45pm on Tuesday and spread soon, Rashed Shikdar, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defense central control room, said.
The fire spread all over the room due to a leak in the gas line, he said.
They were taken to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the doctor declared Tamim dead around 1:30am on Wednesday.
