Authorities of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) on Sunday morning demolished the Banani 11 branch of American Burger, along with a restaurant called Chilekotha, using bulldozers.
According to Assistant Director of Rajuk Public Relations Atikur Rahman, this was part of a regular drive by Rajuk to curb unlawful land occupation. The establishments had been served with warnings beforehand and action was taken only after they failed to comply.The incident has garnered a considerable outpouring of concern from various social media as the restaurants in question were quite popular, especially among the youth.
