12 win Bangla Academy Literary Award 2017

The Bangla Academy on Saturday announced the names of the winners of its Literary Award 2017. Bangla Academy Director General Prof Shamsuzzaman Khan read out the names of the 12 awardees at a press briefing in the Shamsur Rehman auditorium on the Bangla Academy premises. This year’s winners are: Mohammad Sadik and Maruful Islam (poetry), Mamun Hossain (fiction), Professor Mahbubul Haque (essay), Rafiqullah Khan (research), Aminur Rahman Bhuiyan (translation), Kamrul Hasan Bhuiyan and Surma Jahid (literature on Liberation War), Shakur Majid (biography/travelogue), Maloy Bhoumik (drama), Moshtak Ahmed (science fiction) and Jhrana Dash Purokhayshto (juvenile literature). Having been introduced in 1960, the Bangla Academy Sahitya Puroshkar (Literary Award) is annually awarded to individuals for their contribution to the advancement of Bangla literature in various categories.
