President Abdul Hamid has paid rich tributes to the martyred intellectuals by placing wreath at the Martyred Intellectuals' Mausoleum at Mirpur in Dhaka.
The president placed the wreath around 7:05am on Thursday to show his heartfelt homage to the great heroes, who sacrificed their lives for the cause of the country and the nation.
The president stood in solemn silence there for some time as the bugle played the last post.
The president talked to the war-wounded freedom fighters and their family members there and enquired about their wellbeing.
During the time, ministers including Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah, local MPs were present.
