A concert was held at the Dhaka University (DU) for the Rohingya who have entered Bangladesh fleeing the violence in Myanmar.
The concert was organised by university students’ cultural organisation "Provat Feri" on Saturday.
The students demanded that the Rohingya people be sent back to Myanmar with all humanitarian facilities.
Assaduzaman Shikdar, president of “Provat Feri”, said: "We have collected donation from the audience during the concert. The money will be given to the Rohingya people who have taken shelter in Cox`s Bazar.
“Myanmar should take them [Rohingya] back immediately and proper humanitarian facilities should be ensure for the in their own country.”
Different bands formed by the university students and singers of “Provat Feri” performed at the concert.
Country’s only prominent Sarangi artist Motiar Rahman played instrument at the concert while Rezaul Karim Shamol played violin.
University’s Business faculty Dean Prof Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam and Social Welfare and Research Institute Assistant professor Md Tawohidul Haque, among the others, were present at the concert.
According to UNHCR, 536,000 Rohingya have entered Bangladesh since August 25, fleeing the violence in Myanmar.
