Bangladesh and Russia will hold the 5th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) in Dhaka on November 5-6, highlighting trade, and economic, scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries.
Besides, the Russian side will be represented by senior officials from the Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Education and other governmental structures, as well as businessmen.
The parties will discuss the entire gamut of bilateral relations between Russia and Bangladesh, including cooperation in trade, financial and banking sectors, energy, education, ICT and other spheres.
The newly established Russia-Bangladesh Business Council and the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry will hold business consultations on the sidelines of the meeting.
The Russian delegation will be led by Ilya Shestakov, head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries and chairperson of the Russian part of the commission, said the Russian Embassy in Dhaka on Tuesday.
The commission, established in 2017, is the key mechanism for promoting bilateral economic relations. The previous session of the IGC took place in March 2023 via videoconference.
The upcoming meeting will be held in person and thus there is no doubt that it will play an important role in establishing constructive dialogue with the Bangladeshi government elected in February 2026 and elevate interstate and business cooperation to a new level, said the Russian side.
