Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday said that many countries did not think Bangladesh would progress so much in 15 years, and that is why there is jealousy among them.
She instructed everyone not to focus on what these countries say and to concentrate on the improvement of the lives of the people and the country.
PM Hasina gave the instructions while addressing the local administration at Tungipara in Gopalganj yesterday.
She said some people are continuously criticizing the government, but her administration will continue its due work regardless of these criticisms.
"Many people had said that it would not work or that it would not be effective, but we have done it," she said.
Sheikh Hasina asked the local administration to work with confidence, belief, and self-dignity while performing any professional duty without hesitating about what the people will say.
The prime minister said: "We do not care what the people are saying. We will do whatever is required to be done for the welfare of the country and its people."
She asked the local administration to take on development projects, considering their benefits for the country and the people.
"Bear some things in mind whenever you go to take any development schemes, and that is the return of the projects after their implementation and how much the country and its people will benefit," she added.
The premier advised not to take any development project to expense the public money but rather to consider how much the people of the locality will benefit.
Later in the day, the prime minister traveled by road from her residence in Tungipara to her constituency in Kotalipara, where she addressed a views-exchange meeting organized by the local Awami League.
