Youth, two girls raped

The youth has been raped by some local goons at Rajnagar village, Habiganj Sadar upzila recently. The incident of rape came in the light after footage of the rape had been uploaded in the internet. The victim yesterday gave his statement before a court. According to court sources,  a gang of local hoodlums – Sentu Mia, Harun Mia and Mukhles Mia – raped the victim taking him to a field on November 8. But the victim kept mum fearing reprisal. Locals came to know about the matter after footage of the sexual assault was uploaded in the internet. Father of the victim yesterday filed a case with the police in this connection. In Noakhali, a seven-year old madrasa-going girl was allegedly raped at Jirtoli village under Begumgonj upazila, reports our correspondent Ranajit Chowdhury Kuri. According to the victim's father, Md Sabuj of the village had allured the girl with chocolates and took her into a beetle nut garden. There he raped her. Later, the girl returned home injured and told her parents about the incident. The father went to the Begumgonj Model police station and informed it to the officer-in-charge. The OC advised him to take her to the hospital. When contacted, on duty doctor of the hospital Farzana Omi said they were waiting for the report to confirm anything. Sajidur Rahman Sajid, officer-in-charge of Begumganj Model Police Station confirming the incident, said they had received the allegation but would take necessary actions after getting the medical report and inquiry. In Kushtia, a physically challenged teenage girl was gang-raped in Majirhat Bazar area at Mirpur upazila in the district, reports our correspondent Kudrote Khoda Sobuj. According to locals, Babu alias Bhula, son of neighbour Islam, called the girl for sweeping the floor. There he and his cohorts confined the girl and raped her. Later an arbitrary meeting was held in the village and Babu was penalised Tk20,000. But, the father of the victim refused to accept the verdict and took the matter to police. Sub-Inspector Liton of Mazihat police station, said they were trying to arrest the culprits.
