A Jubo League activist has been shot dead by miscreants at Goneshampur area under Lakshmipur Sadar upazila on Tuesday night.
The deceased is Md Hanif alias Moma, son of Salamat Ullah, of Goneshampur and acitivist of North Joypur unit of Jubo League.
Quoting the locals, Duttapara investigation outpost In-Charge Md Jamal Hossain said: “A gang of miscreants picked Moma up while he was sitting at a tea stall in the area around 9pm Tuesday.
“Later, they took him to a nearby garden and shot in his both legs. Moma died on the spot due to excessive blood loss.”
“Being informed, we recovered Moma’s body from the spot. He was an enlisted criminal and a member of local terror group, Jihad Bahini,” added the OC.
Moma might have been killed over dispute with his rivals for establishing supremacy in the area, said the police.
