Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have confiscated 5,000kg of jatka (hilsa fry) in separate drives in the capital.
A mobile court led by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rezaul Karim also fined six traders TK 5,000 each for selling jatka illegally.
Members of RAB 3 seized the hilsa fries in separate drives at capital’s Karwan Bazar and Merul Badda fish market on Sunday morning.
Magistrate Rezaul Karim said: “We seized 2500kg Jatka fishes from Karwan Bazar and another cache of 2500kg from Merul Badda fish market.”
The confiscated jatka fishes were distributed among the madrasas in the capital, said Magistrate Rezaul Karim.
