Two bank officials of Bangladesh Commercial Bank (BCB) in Chittagong city’s Khatunganj branch have been sued in connection with Monday’s money embezzling incident.
BCB’s Khatunganj branch manager Kazi Abul Kashem filed the case with Kotwalli police station on Tuesday accusing the bank branch’s second officer Moinuddin and cashier Monirul Islam, said Kotwali OC Md Jasimuddin.
Police arrested the two persons in the case, added the OC.
Earlier, Moinuddin who went into hiding after embezzling the clients’ money had surrendered to Kotwali police at around 9:30pm, said the OC.
He said based on his confession police arrested the bank cashier Monirul Islam from the bank premises at Khatunganj on Tuesday night.
During initial interrogation Moinuddin admitted his involvement in money embezzlement.
However, the OC could not ascertain how much money the bank official has misappropriated.
Police were investigating the incident, added the OC.
Earlier on Monday Moinuddin fled from his workplace embezzling TK several crore of 20 customers who are the traders and businessmen in the Chittagong’s business hub Khatunganj.
