Customs Intelligence officials have detained a person with 20 gold bars from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Abdul Kadir was detained after he arrived at the airport from Riyadh around 2:45pm on Thursday.
Customs Intelligence Assistant Director Umme Nahid Akhter disclosed the information to the Dhaka Tribune.
The official said the gold bars were concealed in his handbag.
Meanwhile, some gold ornaments were also recovered from his possession.
“The estimated price of the gold, weighing 2.35kg, is Tk1.15 crore," said the customs official.
