A class VII student of a local madrasa in Gosairhat upazila here has allegedly been prey to gang rape by her brother-in-law as well as three of his accomplices.
In the incident that took place in Saikka village in the upazila around 8pm on Sunday, the victim’s father lodged a rape case with Gosairhat police station against the four including the brother-in-law yesterday.
When contacted, Gosairhat police station OC Md Mofazzal Hossain acknowledged the case filing, saying they have already arrested one accused named Manu Malot.
“We are trying our best to arrest the other accused as soon as possible,” the OC went on.
Local sources said the victim’s brother-in-law named Kasem Haulader in the night called her out of her home while she was staying alone there and then he along with his three friends raped her in a nearby cropland.
Hearing scream of the girl, local people rushed to the spot and recovered her in a faint condition.
She was at first whisked off to Gosairhat Upazila Health Complex and later to the district hospital in a critical condition.
