Police detained an advocate for his alleged support of criminal activities by Jamaat-Shibir men in Rajshahi. He was sent to jail yesterday afternoon.
The advocate, Ahammadur Rahman alias Roman, 42, was wanted in a case. Tipped-off, a police team carried out a raid in the Chhotobangram area of Boalia police station in the city and arrested him on Saturday at 9:30pm.
Alamgir Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Boalia Police Station, said to journalists Roman had long been assisting the Jamaat-Shibir outfits both financially and professionally.
He was also accused in a case, related to a cocktail blast and vandalism of some vehicles and shops in front of Shahmukhdum Police Station in the city on February 15 last year, the OC said.
Roman was sent to jail after being produced before Rajshahi chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court yesterday afternoon, he added.
