Police on Monday recovered an abandoned anti-tank cannon shell at Baizid area in Chittagong.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Babul Chandra Banik of Baizid police station said around noon yesterday, locals spotted an abandoned shell in Debarpar at Banglabazar area and informed police.
Upon receiving information, police rushed to the spot and took the shell into custody and informed the Bangladesh Army, he said.
The members of Bangladesh Army’s Bomb Disposal Unit later disposed the shell, said the OC, adding that it might have been abandoned during the war in 1971.
