Two brothers have beaten their mother to death centring a feud over the ancestral properties.
The deceased is Gulbahar Begum (70), wife of late Suruj Ali.
The pathetic heinous incident occurred in Jalalpur village under Mannargao union of Dowarbajar upazila in Sunamganj on Monday.
Locals and police said Abdul Khaliq (45) and Abul Hashim (42) - the two sons of the woman - would get locked into the row over distribution of the ancestral properties.
At noon, the two brothers beat her as they got into dispute that injured the mother critically.
As she was rushed to Upazila Health Complex, doctors declared her dead.
Police detained the two brothers, said Dowarbazar OC Salim Newaz Khan OC.
The OC said case will be filed against them for beating their mother to death over the distribution of ancestral land.
Her body was sent to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
