Police have arrested a husband for beating her wife to death at Vurungamari upazila in Kurigram.
The deceased is Nazma Khatun, 19, wife of Jahangir Alam from Pashchimchat Gopalpur village of Tilai union of the upazila.
Police arrested Jahangir after Minhaj Ali, father of Nazma lodged a murder case against Jahangir on Friday.
Nazma’s father alleged that Jahangir beat Nazma to death on Thursday night and poured poison in her mouth and claimed her death as suicide.
Nazma died in Vurungamari Health Complex after she was taken to the hospital in a critical condition on Thursday night.
Sub-Inspector of Vurungamari police station also the Investigation officer of the case informed the Dhaka Tribune about the case.
He said: "We found injury mark in Nazma’s face."
The body was sent to the Kurigram General Hospital morgue for autopsy, he added.
