Salam to be quizzed at jail gate

A Dhaka court yesterday ordered the investigating officer of a women

repression case to interrogate Ekushey Television (ETV) Chairman Abdus Salam at jail gate within five working days.

The court also rejected his bail and remand petitions in the case.

Metropolitan Magistrate Sabrina Ali passed the order after Shakhawat Hossain, sub-inspector of Mirpur Model Police Station and also IO of the case, produced Salam before the court with a five-day remand prayer.

Defense counsel Md Shabuddin Sheikh said the accused was not involved with this incident and he was not FIR listed accused.

He requested the court to grant his bail rejecting remand prayer.

Salam was shown accused in a case filed under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act and ICT Act on November 10 last year with the Cantonment Police Station.

The case was filed against Shahjalal by her then wife.

Earlier, detectives on January 6 detained Abdus Salam when he went down to the ground floor of ETV office..

On January 11, another Dhaka court granted Abdus Salam on a five-day remand in a sedition case filed with Tejgaon Police Station.
