A woman has killed her husband following a family feud over watching a soap opera on the Indian private television channel Star Jalsha in Dhaka on Sunday night.
The deceased is Sohrab Hossain alias Amir Hossain, 28, son of Shahjahan Miah of Barkat Kanda village under Kapasia upazlia in the district.
Police arrested his wife Shahida Akter Ripa from the spot.
Sohrab's father Shahjahan Miah said: “Ripa locked in an altercation with Sohrab on Sunday night as he changed the channel while his wife was watching a soap opera on Star Jalsha.”
“At one stage, she became excited and attacked Sohrab with a knife, leaving him seriously injured. He was rushed to Gazipur Sadar Hospital where on-duty doctor declared him dead.”
Officer-in-Charge of Joydepur police station Khandakar Rezaul Hasan said: “Being informed, the police rushed in and arrested Ripa with the blood-stained knife.”
The couple has a five-year-old son.
