A crude bomb was hurled targeting the vehicle of former Sylhet City Corporation mayor and city Awami League President Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran at Pathantula here yesterday afternoon.
However, he escaped the attack unhurt as the bomb missed his vehicle narrowly and instead it exploded on the street.
Kamran said a group of several youths threw the bomb at his vehicle at Pathantula Point on his way to Ambarkhana after attending a marriage ceremony at a community centre.
Officer-in-Charge of Jalalabad police station Akhter Hossain said Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal activists brought out a procession at Pathantula demanding the withdrawal of cases filed against senior BNP leaders. “The crude bomb was blasted from the rally.”
