Update : 26 Dec 2014, 11:13 AM

Customs officials at Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport have seized 24 gold bars weighting two and a half kilograms from a toilet of the airport lounge on Thursday night.

One was arrested in this connection, said customs officials.

Assistant Commissioner Tapon Kumar Chawkrabarty of Chittagong Customs House said a flight BG-Maskat of Oman landed at Chittagong airport around 11:30pm.

Soon after the landing, customs officials found a bag of the flight at the toilet in an abandoned condition where 24 gold bars worth of Tk1.20 crore were kept in a wallet inside the bag wrapped with black tape, said AC Tapon Kumar.

He said someone left the bag at the toilet of the airport failing to come out along with the gold bars due to high security of customs.
