A housewife has allegedly been killed by her husband in Chittagong city’s Halishahar area over family feud after one and half month of their marriage.
The deceased was Ani Akhter, 22, wife of Md Harun, an expatriate of UAE of Mainnapara area at Boropool area under Halishahar police station, said police sources.
Police arrested Harun and his father Abul Kalam and mother Anzumara Begum from the spot in this connection, said Sub-Inspector Sajal Kanti Das of Halishahar police station.
Harun returned home from his workplace in UAE to the country three months ago, said the SI.
SI Sajal said after returning from a party near their house on Monday night, an altercation ensued between the couple over Ani’s makeup.
Angered over the issue Harun hit on the head of Ani with iron machine indiscriminately, leaving her dead on the spot, said the SI.
Being informed, police recovered the body from the spot and sent it Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) morgue for autopsy.
Quoting deceased’s father Md Yunus, the SI said family members of father-in-law demanded a fridge as dowry and continued putting pressure on Ani since the marriage.
A case was lodged with Halishahar police station in this connection, said SI Sajol.
