An accused in the dacoity preparation case has been fled from the police custody while they were heading to Brahmanbaria district judge court.
The accused is Chhutto Mia, 32, hailed from Dashdonabari village under Bancharampur upazila of the district, police said.
Brahmanbaria Police Super Md Zahidul Islam said the incident took place in Moncashair area under Kasba upazila on Comilla-Sylhet highway on Saturday afternoon.
Three police constables along with the accused were going to Brahmanbaria district jail by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw.
When they reached in Moncashair area, the accused got down from the CNG and went to roadside responding to the call of nature. At one stage, he ran away from the spot.
Investigation is underway whether there was any negligence in duty of the policemen during the incident, said Bancharampur police station OC Aungshu Kumar Dev.
