The elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in a drive, have arrested two persons including an adolescent along with huge voice over internet protocol (VoIP) worth about Tk40 lakh in Chittagong city’s Halishahar area.
The arrestees are Saidul Islam, 18, and Kamal Hossain, 30, said RAB 7 sources.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mobassher Hossain of RAB 7 in Chandgaon Camp said acting on a tip-off a team of RAB-7 launched a drive at one Nahar Manjil at Shapla Residential Area of Halishahar at around 12pm on Monday noon.
The RAB members arrested the duo from the fourth floor of the building along with illegal VoIP equipments of worth about Tk40 lakhs, said ASP Mobassher Hossain.
Rab members recovered 18 inter gateway, 21 modems, 21 switch boxes, three laptops, 14,972 mobile SIMs, six CPUs, 273 Wimax antennas, four routers and others tools from their possession, said the RAB official.
During primary interrogation the duo admitted that they had run the illegal business for the last three years.
