A Dhaka court has ordered to deputy commissioner of Dhaka to exhume the body of Nayar Sultan, an eminent actress of the small screen, from the grave for a fresh autopsy.

Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Bikash Kumar Saha passed the order on Wednesday following a petition filed by victim’s mother Razia Sultana.

The court also ordered to the Dhaka deputy commissioner (DC) to appoint an executive magistrate for the exhumation.

A three-member committee including head of Sir Sallimullah Medical College and Hospital will perform a fresh autopsy on the body.

The court also directed the committee to submit the postmortem report before the court by December 15.

The previous autopsy at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) confirmed that Nayar Sultana committed suicide.

Rejecting the postmortem report, her mother filed a petition seeking further autopsy.

Once of the eminent actress of the small screen, Nayar Sultana, who performed in the hugely popular character, Tuni, a young girl in Bangladesh Television serial “Ei Shob Din Ratri,” took her own life on October 16 in her house at Gulshan in the capital.

Gulshan police reached her residence around 7pm and broke open the door to find her hanging from a ceiling fan with a cloth.

Hours after the incident, her husband Al-Amin was arrested as her mother Razia Sultana lodged a case with Gulshan police station against him, bringing allegation that he provoked Sultana to kill herself.

On November 16, a Dhaka court sent Al-Amin to jail rejecting his remand plea when police produced him before the court seeking on 10-day remand.
