Police arrested the prime accused in connection with the killing of a woman and her three daughters at Mirzapur upazila in Tangail on Saturday.

Prime accused Jahangir Alam, 25, son of Bahar Uddin, was arrested from his house around 8:30pm, said Abdur Rashid, officer-in-charge of Mirzapur police station.

“Acting on a tip-off, we reached the house of Jahangir and captured him after verifying his identity,” said Abdur Rashid.

To save him from angry local people we covered him with a scarf and took him to the office of Superintendent of Police in Tangail instantly, said the OC.

Later, he was admitted to Tangail Medical College Hospital as he was ill.

Superintendent of Tangail police Saleh Mohammed Tanvi said police would seek remand against the arrestee after his physical condition become okay.

A case was filed against 10 people over the incident on the same day.

On October 11, police announced a Tk100,000 bounty to capture the prime accused Jahangir.
