Detective Branch (DB) of Police have detained five people, including a Pakistani national, from a hotel in Chittagong.
The detainees are Salamot Ullah, Mohammad Amin, Saudi Arabian expatriate Abdul Mozid, Shofiullah and Pakistani national Mohammad Alam.
Chittagong DB police Deputy Commissioner Kushum Dewan said: “Acting on a tip off, a team of DB detained them from Lords Inn hotel around 1pm on Sunday for the suspicious behaviour.
“The detainees had rented rooms in the hotel on Saturday.”
The deputy commissioner said a Pakistani passport has been recovered from Alam's possession.
However, Alam claimed to be the director of Global Rohingya Centre when the DB police questioned him.
An eight-member joint interrogation cell, headed by Deputy Commissioner Kushum Dewan, was formed in this regard, CMP's additional commmissoner (crime and operation) Banaj kumar Majumder said.
