Update : 16 Nov 2014, 06:55 PM

A Dhaka court yesterday ordered to issue arrest warrant against a police constable in connection with a rape case filed with the Nari-O-Shishu Nirjatan Daman Tribunal 3.

The acting judge of the tribunal, Tanjina Ismail issued the order yesterday.

Constable Pulak Halder, 38, of Gendaria police station is accused of raping a house wife of Dhalkanagar of the same area.

The counsel of the victim, Dulal Mittra said, Pulak Halder assured the victim to marry her but never did so. That is why the victim filed the case with Nari-O- Shishu Nirjatan Daman Tribunal 3 on September 18.

According to the case details, the constable took advantage of the victim when she went to get her husband released in a case in 2010. The constable told her to forget her husband as he would be jailed for 14 year in the case.

The accused proposed to marry her and later they started to live together. A girl child was born in 2011. However, the constable refused to marry her and also did not acknowledge the child.

Instead, he threatened to sue the victim if she ever disclosed the matter.

After filling of the case, an investigation suggested that the child might be of the  constable’s. On the basis of the report, the court issued the arrest warrant.
