Four versity students held for abduction

Police arrested four abductors and rescued two from their trap in Barisal yesterday.

According to police sources Shah Imam Hossain, student of Stamford University and son of Emdad Ali Khan from Bilbilash, Shakib Hasan, student of Prime Asia University and son of Latif Matubbar of Bhoripasha, Siam Rajib, student of Barisal Polytechnic Institute and son of Alauddin Mia from Dhuliya under Baufal upazila of Patuakhali and Abid Al Amin, student of Barisal BRTC Driving Training School and son of Abdur Rahman Hawladar from Karnakati of Barisal Sadar upazila contacted with two, named Kabir and Robin, staffs of a video shop on Wednesday for making video of a marriage ceremony at Baufal in Patuakhali.

According to the contact, the two staffs started for the spot by launch with valuable equipments including camera and lights.

After disembarking from the launch at Barisal, the four boarded with the two on a trawler to reach the spot.

The students who played role of abductors took the two in a room at Fahim Hotel in Bandh Road area. They demanded Tk10,00000 as ransom. They also threatened to kill them if they try to flee.

The video company informed the matter to the police and the law enforcers conducted a drive in the area.

Later, they arrested the four abductors and rescued the two.

Ataur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station, said the arrested were sent to court after interrogation.

A case was filed.
