Pakistani held with 11.5m Indian rupees

Customs officials have arrested a Pakistani citizen along with huge amount of Indian rupees at Sylhet MAG Osmani Airport on Wednesday morning.

The arrestee is Imran, 25, son of Golam Rasul, a Bangladesh-born Pakistani national.

Assistant Commissioner of Sylhet Customs Probhat Kumar Singha said: “Acting on a tip-off, the customs members held him with the Indian rupees by scanning his baggage around 6am.”

“The rupees were kept inside a carton of a dinner set. We are yet to open the carton. But, it is being estimated that he was carrying Rs11.5m.”
