A local Jubo League leader has been hacked to death by unidentified miscreants at Mahiganj in Satmatha area of Rangpur district.
The deceased is Imran Miah, 28, ward 2 secretary of Juba league's district unit.
Witnesses said a group of miscreants swooped on Imran and hacked him indiscriminately with sharp weapons when he went out of a hotel around 1am.
He was taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital in a critical condition where the doctors declared him dead.
The locals and Juba League activists blocked Rangpur-Kurigram highway protesting the incident.
Being informed, police went to the spot to bring the situation under control.
