A Sylhet court yesterday sent 37 Bangladesh Chaatra League (BCL) leaders and activists to jail yesterday rejecting their bail plea in a case filed under the explosives act.
Judicial Magistrate Jerin Sultana passed the order when the accused surrendered before the court and sought bail in the case.
The accused include Abul Kasem Pollob, former joint secretary of BCL Beanibazar upazila unit.
Advocate Rezaul Karim, the defence counsel, filed bail petitions for the accused, which was denied by the court.
On September 15, two factions of BCL led by its Joint convenor Jamal Ahmed locked into clashes, leaving 10 injured including officer-in-charge of the Biyanibazar police station.
Sub-Inspector Mizanur Rahman lodged a case against 52 BCL men under explosives act.
