A case has been filed with Kamalnagar police station over the clash between the workers of a lighter vessel regarding the smuggling of fertilisers in Lakshmipur.
Abdus Salam, owner of the vessel Karnafuli 5, filed the case against five people on Sunday morning.
Sources said some workers attacked the captain of the ship when he tried to stop them from smuggling fertilisers on Saturday, leaving three people injured.
Later, the workers dumped the injured into Meghna river.
Ship staff Parvez said the clash ensured over the feud centring the smuggling of 2000 sacks of fertilisers.
Kamalnagar police station Officer-in-Charge Humayun Kabir said: “Kidnapping did
not take place in the vessel but three members of the ship are missing.”
Meanwhile, the lighter vessel workers in Chittagong port are observing an indefinite strike following the incident.
