A Bangladeshi national has been beaten to death by local Indians while he was trying to enter inside the Indian territory illegally through Tripura border.
The deceased is Ershad Hossain, 30, a resident of Arannyapur village under Comilla Sadar upazila.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Battalion 10 Commander Lieutenant Colonel Zakir Hossain said: “The local Indians beat him severely, suspecting him a burglar early Friday, while he was trying to enter inside Indian territory illegally.”
“Critically injured Ershad was rushed to Sonamura Hospital of Tripura, where he died while undergoing treatment at 9am on Friday.”
“After holding a flag meeting, the Indian police handed the body over to Comilla Kotwali police station Sub-Inspector Sanjit Chandra around 9pm on Friday.”
Ershad’s body was sent to his family members.
