Robbers looted Tk10 lakh from a cold storage in Boiragirhat area of Kalai upazila in the district yesterday after shooting six workers.
Jayanta Kumar, accountant of South Pole Cold Storage, said a gang of armed robbers, numbering 15/20, stormed the cold storage and held some of its workers, including a woman, hostage at gunpoint around 1.30am.
As other workers tried to resist the robbers, they opened fire on them leaving Sirajul Islam, Shah Alam, Mamunur Rashid, Ahedul Islam, Mojammel Haque and Farzuara injured.
The robbers then broke open the office room of the cold storage and looted Tk10 lakh from the vault and fled the scene. The injured were first taken to Joypurhat General Hospital and then to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
