The police have recovered the body of a 10-year old schoolgirl from Prohladpur Vitipara under Shreepur upazila of Gazipur.
The deceased is Ilmee, 10, a class four student of Maricharchala Islamia Dakhil Madrasa and daughter of Noor Mohammad, of the area.
Ilmee's grandfather Jamiruddin said: “Ilmee along with her gradmother went to visit a local temple to see the idol of Hindu goddess Kali around 7:30pm on Friday. She went missing from the spot around 10pm.”
“Later, the locals noticed her uncovered body at a field in Prohladpur around 7am on Saturday and informed the police.”
He claimed that one Mintu, 40, son of Abdur Rashid, of Kadma village, strangled Ilmee after raping her as she was seen roaming with him.
UP member Abdul Majid said: “She might have been strangled after being raped as her body had several marks.”
Shreepur Model police station Sub-Inspector Abdul Mazid said: “Being informed, the police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue around 10am.”
No case has been filed in this connection till filing the report at 11am.
