ACC to scrutinise nine officials’ FF certificates

The Anti-Corruption Commission is set to scrutinise the freedom fighter certificates of its nine officials, including a director general, in the wake of forgery by the government officials in obtaining such certificates.

The ACC came up with the decision at its monthly meeting held on Tuesday, an official told reporters. A a two-member committee, headed by Deputy Director Julfikar Ali, was formed yesterday to investigate the allegations. The other member is Assistant Director Rafiqul Islam.

The nine are Director General (legal and prosecution) Kamrul Hasan Molla, directors Golam Yahia and Abdul Aziz Bhuiyan, deputy directors Dhali Abdus Samad and SM Golam Mawla Siddique, former deputy director Ranjan Kumar Majumder, Assistant Inspector Abdus Sobhan, and court assistants Nurul Islam and Ishak Fakir.

The commission primarily found that the certificates of Kamrul and Yahia were forged. Yahia has already extended his tenure.

Meanwhile, the commission on Monday started process to  investigate the allegations of obtaining freedom fighter certificates against five secretaries, an additional secretary and two joint secretaries. The government last month cancelled the certificates of five officials including Privatisation Commission Chairman Molla Waheduzzaman, Health Secretary Neaz Uddin Mia and PSC Secretary AKM Amir Hossain.
