Police have detained the sub-inspector of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station in the capital over the incident of shooting a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver and portraying him as a mugger.
SI Anwar Hossain was detained on Wednesday afternoon and Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Momin was also transferred to the directive branch of police.
Wahidul Islam, assistant deputy commissioner (ADC) confirmed the Dhaka Tribune.
Driver Md Shah Alam was shot by the police official who allegedly enticed the driver’s wife into eloping with him after developing an extramarital affair.
The policeman, however, claimed the driver Alam, is a notorious mugger who has at least 10 cases filed against him with different police stations in Dhaka.
