An arrested Shibir man who was accused in two cases has fled from Dhemsha investigation centre under Satkania police station in the district on Tuesday morning.
However, a police constable Md Shahjahan of Satkania police station, who was serving at Dhemsha investigation centre in the upazila, has been closed from the district police lines for negligence of his duty in this connection, said Satkania Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khaled Hossain.
The decision came after he was found guilty over the incident, he added.
He said the Shibir activist, Md Rubel, 20, was arrested from his residence at Dhemsha under the upazila around 5am.
However, Rubel, making a fool of Shahjahan, managed to run away from the investigation centre around 10am.
After being arrested, Rubel requested the constable to loosen his handcuffs saying that he was feeling pain in his wrists due to tight handcuffing.
When Shahjahan tried to ease the handcuffs, Rubel escaped the custody by playing the trick, said the OC.
The other members of the centre were in their respective rooms and barracks while Shahjahan was on guard duty of the centre, added the OC.
Police will investigate the matter and are trying to nab Rubel.
