Detective Branch of Police in Gazipur have detained a drug peddler with 500 pieces of yaba tablets at Battala area of Tongi.
The detainee is Ilias Hossain, 19, son of Ishaq Mia, of Teknaf in Cox's Bazar.
Mamun Hasan, sub-inspector of Gazipur Detective Branch of Police, said: "Acting on a tip-off, we interrogated a suspected person in Battala area on Saturday night. The detainee admitted that he was a drug peddler."
Police searched the man and found 500 pieces of yaba tablets, said the SI.
The detainee will be sent to jail after producing him before the court on Sunday.
