Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel detained six persons with two tiger hides at Itagacha in Satkhira town on Thursday night.
The RAB members also seized 10 rounds of bullets from the possessions of the detainees.
The detainees are Md Gazi Selim, 35, son of Mokhles Ali; Md Rabiul Islam, 35, son of late Wazed Ali Gazi; Sheikh Bakhliar Uddin, 42, son of late Mohiuddin Ahmed; Md Mostafizur Rahman, 36, son of late Shahjahan Ali Gazi; Md Faruk Sana, 48, son of Mohammad Ali Sana; and Md Amirul Islam, 25, son of Sekandar Ali Gazi.
RAB 8 Commanding Officer Maj Adnan said the detainees had been smuggling tiger and deer hides after collecting those from the thief hunters of Sundarbans.
"We conducted the drive on the basis of secret information and detained the six smugglers," he added.
A case has been filed with Satkhira police station in this connection.
