A Jhalakathi court has discharged Limon Hossain from a case filed against him for obstructing police duty.
Cheif Judicial Magistrate Abu Shamim Azad passed the order on Thursday afternoon.
A fortnight before his HSC examination, Limon was shot in the leg by members of elite force Rapid Action Battalion near his house at Jamaddarhat in Rajapur upazila of Jhalakathi.
The RAB team was conducting an operation to arrest local goons of the Mizan-Morshed gang on March 23, 2011. Later, Limon’s left leg had to be amputated from the thigh.
After the incident, RAB filed two cases against Limon and seven other accused – one under the Arms Act and another for obstructing police duty and attempt to murder and injure RAB personnel.
Since the incident created a huge sensation, on July 9 last year, the Home Ministry ordered the withdrawal of the charges only against Limon in both the cases.
The charge against Limon in the arms case were withdrawn on July 30 the same year.
