A case has been filed against three officer-in-charges and two sub-inspectors with District and Sessions Judge Court on Tuesday.
Abdul Quddus Miah, judge of Noakhali District and Sessions Judge Court, ordered the police to take a case filed by the father of an accused as regular case and make an inquiry of the case.
The accused officials are OC Ashraful Alam, former OC Abdus Samad, and SI Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury, of Sonaimuri police station, OC Zahid Hasan and SI Asad of Bandar police station, Chittagong.
However, police denied the allegation.
Case history stated that Sonaimuri police of Noakhali arrested Md Nazrul Islam, 25, son of Abul Kashem, with the help of Bandar police station on September 16, 2014 and came to the Sonaimuri police station.
At night, police tortured and threatened him to give a confessional statement about a murder case. But Nazrul denied giving confessional statement, it reads.
It said later, around 2:30am on September 17, police shot on his left leg and left him in front of emergency department of Noakhali Abdul Malek Ukil Medical College Hospital.
On information, his relatives came to the spot and admitted him to the hospital. On duty doctor referred him to Dhaka Pangu Hospital where doctors cut his leg to save him.
Asking about the case, OC Ashraful Alam of Sonaimuri police station said: “The case is baseless. None in the police station can be engaged in such heinous deed.”
Another accused of the case, OC Zahid Hasan, said officials from Sonaimuri police station came to my office with a requisition to arrest Nazrul Islam.
“They arrested Nazrul and left Chittagong.”
