Police have arrested a man with 16 gold bars weighing 1.8 kilograms at Nimtoli check-post area in Tongi.
The arrestee is Rasel, 24, son of late Abdus Samad of Narshingdi.
Tongi police station Assistant Sub-Inspector Abdul Kuddus said: “Acting on a tip-off, police raided Rasel private car at Nimtoli check-post area and arrested him with the gold bars while he was returning from Shahjalal International Airport in the morning.”
The gold bars are worth of Tk70 lakh, added the SI.
A case has been filed with Tongi police station in this connection.
