Police have arrested one for allegedly raping a disabled minor girl on Saturday night.
The arrestee is Abdul Jabbar, 40, an easy bike driver, also a tenant of Babar Habildar resident Shankarpur Chicken Farm area.
Quoting the locals, Assistant Sub-Inspector of Kotowali police station, Mahabub Alom said: “The victim (12) was sitting in her father's van at Shankarpur Chicken Farm area around 8pm on Saturday night.”
“Jabbar took her to his room by alluring her and raped her. Hearing the victim's screaming, locals with the victim's mother rushed to the spot and rescued the girl,” he added.
They detained Jabbar and informed the police. Later on, police rushed to the spot and arrested the criminal at around 10pm, Mahabub said.
Officer-in-Charge of Kotowali police station, Enamul Haque said: “We handed over the victim and arrestee to Khulna GRP police as the spot where the crime took place is under their jurisdiction.”
