As part of an intensified effort to capture the prime accused in the killing of a woman and her three daughters in Tangail, police announced a Tk1 lakh bounty on Jahangir.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (Dhaka Range) Mahfuzul Haque Nuruzzaman made the announcement while addressing journalists at Mirzapur police station yesterday afternoon.
The DIG said: “Law enforces were conducting drives to arrest all those who were involved in the murder. We will do everything to ensure punishments of the culprits. Anyone who shelters Jahangir will be brought to justice.”
While answering a question, the DIG said Jahangir’s passport was seized, so it would not be easy for him to leave the country.
A ninth-grader Monira was burnt to death along with her mother and two sisters as she refused to marry Jahangir, who was an expatriate in Singapore and also her neighbour. The incident took place at South Sohagpara village in Mirzapur on Tuesday when their house was set ablaze by Jahangrir and his accomplices, while the victims were asleep.
