Lakshmipur SP Shah Mijan Shafiur Rahman has claimed that Lakshmipur Police Lines ASI Abdul Jalil’s death was a murder and not an accident.
Police initially claimed Jalil was hit by a bullet from his own gun when the trigger got accidentally pressed at around 12:30am yesterday.
Addressing a press briefing yesterday afternoon, Shafiur said the autopsy on Jalil’s body revealed that there were shotgun pellets inside the body, even though Jalil had been carrying an SMG.
No bullet was discharged from the SMG, he said. The SP said Jalil, along with several policemen, went to Raipur upazila on Thursday after locals staged demonstrations and blocked a road demanding supply of electricity.
