A youth was stabbed to death by miscreants at Khulshi in Chittagong city early yesterday over a trivial matter.
The deceased was identified as Jasim Uddin, 25, son of Farid Ahmed. Police arrested Sajid Hossain, 18, son of Abu Bakar, a resident of Wireless Residential area of Khulshi, for his involvement with the murder.
Mainul Islam Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Khulshi police station, said scuffle between Jasim and Sajid took place at a marriage ceremony in Bihari colony area following an altercation over a trifling matter.
At one stage of the altercation, a gang of 4-5 miscreants, led by Sajid, stabbed Jasim with knives around 3:30am, leaving him critically injured, he added.
Jasim was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
The body has been sent to hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination.
A case was filed in this connection. But no one was arrested.
