Detective Branch (DB) of police have arrested a Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) member, one of the accused in the much-talked Narayanganj seven murder case from Baufal upazila of Potuakhali.
The arrestee, Lance Corporal Nurul Amin, 32, was a member of RAB 11.
Acting on a tip off, DB personnel along with Baufal Police Station arrested Nurul at Baufal Bazar area around 11am on Tuesday.
Naresh Karmaker, officer-in-charge of Baufal Police Station endorsed the information to the Dhaka Tribune.
On April 27, seven including Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam, his three associates and driver were abducted from Fatullah area in Narayanganj city.
Three days after their abduction, the bodies of six people, including those of Nazrul and Chandan, were recovered from the Shitalakkhya River on April 30. The body of Jahangir, car driver of Nazrul Islam, was recovered from the river on May 1.
Three former RAB officials, including Lt Col Tareque, Major Arif Hossain and Lt Commander MM Rana, who were arrested earlier, confessed to their involvement in the sensational seven murders.
