Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have seized 1.20 lakh pieces of yaba tablet from sluice gate area of Teknaf upazila in Cox's Bazar.
BGB personnel, in a drive, recovered the tablets early Saturday.
BGB 42 Battalion Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Abujar Al Zahid said: “Acting on a tip off, a team conducted a drive in no 4 sluice gate area and challenged a boat coming from Myanmar around 3am.”
“Sensing the presence of the BGB members, the smugglers managed to escape leaving behind a boat,” he said. Later, the team recovered 1.20 lakh pieces of yaba tablet for the boat and took the boat into their custody. The BGB official said the market value of the tablets is around Tk3.60 crore.
